Curse You, Network Television

Heroes.
CSI.
Dexter.
and now LOST.
Why is it that there are so many good shows out there that just seem to suck you in and devour your soul (not to mention your free time)?
It’s a good thing Netflix doesn’t carry Lost in their Watch Instantly lineup. Yet. Cause that’ll be a sad day when that changes…Heck, my queue is already backed up beyond belief. (Of course, half of it I’m probably not going to watch, but hey, who cares?)
…
Wow, I’m writing this while watching TV, which was a big mistake. After Lost was Eli Stone, a new series about a lawyer who has a brain aneurysm and starts seeing visions like a modern-day prophet (which help him help people). Just what I need, another hour-a-week occupied…
What are your favorite TV time-sinks?

It’s rather paradoxical. The weather’s miserable with freezing rain, projects and other things to do are looming over my head, the weather’s miserable…and yet, I still find myself in a reasonably perpetual good mood. There’s so much that could bring me down, but it’s when I focus on the things going right in my life is when I find myself unable to keep from smiling. I’m in a career field that I enjoy, I have great friends, I have a God who loves me and cares for my well-being, I have a place to live and food in my stomach. I’m good. =)
And like I said before, it’s all about perspective. For instance, let’s take probably the most potentially miserable thing about today: I had to walk back to my apartment from the SLC (a half mile or so) after fencing, and it was freezing rain. Well, after fencing, I had gone over to the gym for a half hour, so at that point, I was pretty hot. (Of course, I’m always hot, but this was different. *wink* ) I’ll admit, I walked outside and reacted with a “C’MON!”. But the rain felt great. A situation turned upside down into something enjoyable.
I can’t stress it enough: whatever situation you find yourself in, there’s always a better perspective. Find it. Smile.
=)
