Bucket List

I haven’t seen the movie, but the idea behind it is still appealing: a list of things that you want to accomplish during your time here on Earth. Not that I think I’m gonna die anytime soon, but it’s always good to have a set of goals to strive for.

So, without further ado:

Travel:

  • Watch the Olympic Games live.
  • Travel to Israel.
  • Visit all 50 U.S. states.
  • Spend time in Ireland/Scotland (and develop an accent.)
  • Live abroad for some period of time.
  • Set foot on every continent. (Even Antarctica).

Skills:

  • Learn to play guitar.
  • Learn to ride a horse.
  • Learn Elvish and/or Aurabesh.
  • Get my motorcycle license, and then take a cross-country motorcycle trip.
  • Develop a wine palette.

Activities:

  • Kayak down a class 5 river. (Ok, maybe class 4.)
  • Write a book.
  • Swim with dolphins.
  • Fence competitively.
  • Place in a ballroom dance competition.
  • Read the entire Bible.
  • Parasail.
  • Finish a triathlon.
  • Run a half-marathon.
  • Run a marathon.
  • Scuba dive.
  • Skydive.
  • Play paintball.

Life and Career:

  • Design my own website from scratch.
  • Get in shape.
  • Get my baccalaureate degree.
  • Get married.
  • Have kids.

As of now, these are just the things that came off the top of my head, and I’m sure that this list is a living document that will grow and shrink as time goes by.

I haven’t got a list…. right now.

However my mom apperantly does. She will be 80 in December. There are six of us kids. My dad died almost ten years ago. All of kids got a letter from mom last month asking us to hand write a list with three things we each want that are in the house. Although the garage is not “in the house” and the house itself could be argued that it is in itself… I put her car and the house on my list. Just to mess with my siblings.

Several on your list can be included into one thing. You could watch the olympics in Iraland/Scotland, stay there long enough to learn to ride a horse. You could write a book about your recently learned activities and how it was you came to do them.

Get your motorcycle license, travle to all fifty states, buy the Bible on tape and listen to it as you travle.

I think once you’ve done either of the marathons you can scratch off “get in shape” on your “Life and Career” section. ;)

So what if you think of something to have on your list while you’re doing it? Does it count? Be spontaneous once in a while…wait…you are. Live life to the fullest extent and never regret not doing something.
