Hello and welcome to beautiful Lee McKusick.

So, I recently…

…graduated!

Yes, that wonderful point where one exits from their education and enters the real world, having been completely ill-prepared for the things said real world will throw at them. =P

Job hunting is always fun. Working on building/expanding a web portfolio, which is going slowly. In the meantime I’m looking to find some form of co-op suitable for IT to officially complete my degree and get a diploma.

…started a relationship with a beautiful, amazing, woman! Liz, I love you! =D

…moved back to Connecticut! I’m currently living with my parents in the NE corner of CT, so if you’re up in my neck of the woods, throw me a line…

…finished Terry Goodkind’s Sword of Truth series! All I can say is…wow. Amazing stories, and Goodkind is a genius. Reminded me a lot of reading Atlas Shrugged, which I also loved. I really enjoyed the detail that went into fleshing out the characters and plotlines… Alas, finding another series to match it will be tough. If anyone has any recommendations…

…decided to post on my blog! Those are some of the main highlights, and I figured I’d keep it short, so so long! Farewell! And you know the rest…

Stuck In Customs

Have I mentioned I love Desktoptopia?

This is the image it just gave me:

I thought the HDR (High Dynamic Range, it’s what gives it the illustrated look) effect was really cool, so I decided to play my luck and see if they gave a link to the photographer. Sure enough, they did, and the guy, Trey Ratcliff, has a ton of beautiful HDR images.

His site, Stuck in Customs, has both his official portfolio, and a photoblog. It’s definitely worth a look.

Plus, most of his stuff is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike license. Props to him for that!

JavaScript. My Friend, My Foe.

Aha! After messing around with 1and1’s config menus, WordPress’s config menus, .htaccess files, and a bit of time spent being mildly frustrated, I finally was able to make http://leemckusick.com redirect to http://leemckusick.com/blog, and all it took was 1 line of JavaScript.

I feel like a dork.

Maybe I need to retake 409, hehe.

Plugins

The [re]birthing pains seem to be abating, and one of the things that I’m really enjoying about Wordpress is the idea of plugins: the little modules that you can add to your site to increase functionality.

The ones I’m currently using are:
Admin Favicon – Automatically adds a favicon (The icon next to the address in the address bar.)
All in One SEO Pack
FeedBurner FeedSmith
Hello Dolly – Originally gives lyrics from Hello Dolly in the admin pages, but tweaked to provide select Shakespeare quotes instead.
Twitter Tools – So glad I’m able to pipe Twitter into here.

Any other suggestions?
